Soot is a small esk with a lot of personality. She is extroverted, talkative, adventurous, chronically optimistic, and a little high-energy. She enjoys making friends and visiting them, bringing them gifts from her boundary such as small flowers, and catching up on news and gossip or helping them out with things they need. She can be a little prying at times and asks lots of questions, but is also very protective of those she cares about.

Much of her time is spent fostering small plants and flowers in her boundary, but she enjoys going on adventures outside of it and exploring new places. She is good friends with ever-patient Súice who enjoys her friendship and listening to her chit-chat very much (but has to wonder whether Soot ever sits still or sleeps.)

Blooming Badlands

Soot’s badlands lie in southern North America. Here she creates hidden gardens of lush vegetation; blooming cacti, creosote and yucca, in places where often very little is found. Soot takes great care to maintain these little patches of flowery paradise carefully.

Impressions

  • Soot’s vibration is high pitched and fluttery.

  • She is a very small esk, about the size of a chipmunk; well able to fit into all the nooks and crannies of her mountainous desert landscape.

  • She is a bit of a busy-body, rarely staying still for long, highly chatty and zippy, and a little prying and nosy, but she makes up for these slight annoyances by being genuinely caring and happy to lend a hand during anyone’s time of need, great or small.

Transformations

Soot’s transformations are most likely to be done out of care, but sometimes may be driven by pure curiosity. She is happy to stick around and help the new esk gain their footing, and will be invested in them in the long term, frequently checking in or keeping tabs, and even being a little protective.
